Name:
Kenny Burns
Job Designation:
Web Developer
Short Job Description:
Build and support of websites and all things digital.
Question: Describe your workplace
A relaxed yet professional environment with good banter.
Question: What has been the biggest challenge of your career?
A few years ago I worked from home for a company based in Dumfries. At first it was great but after a while I found it difficult to get motivated sitting in my bedroom at work.
Being part of a creative, good-natured and relaxed environment provides daily motivation and is central to my enjoyment of working at Radiator.
Question: What skills are needed?
You need good analytical, planning and problem solving skills, as well as an all round knowledge of the web to survive in this game. Patience, good interpersonal skills and a sense of humour also go a long way.
Question: What has been your career highlight?
The goal I scored for Radiator in the group stages of the IT football 5-aside tournament. It was a belter!
Question: Where do you see yourself in the future?
Hopefully the day will come where I will be getting into work on a hover board!
I believe I can go on to achieve great things in at Radiator and would hope to be an integral part of shaping the company for the future, helping it to develop to its full potential.
And if all fails, Thailand isn’t going anywhere..!
Question: What advice would you offer to those looking for a similar career?
Top up on enthusiasm and get as much practical, commercial experience as you can. Take on as many of the web projects that your mates and family pester you to build…but make sure you charge them - they can be a sly bunch and this helps to develop a self-worth!
Question: What do you do to unwind after work?
I must admit, I am partial to a bit of the football. I go and support my ‘local’ team at the weekends and play a couple of times a week. My other passion is my guitar and music and I love nothing more than to kick back and bang out/listen to a couple of tunes.
